This is the final episode in Talking About Kids’ four-part series on eating disorders. In the first episode, Bryn Austin described the prevalence and stigmas of eating disorders. In the second episode, Jean Doak explained the harm caused by them. In the third episode, Anna Lutz and I discussed preventing eating disorders and how to intervene when issues arise. My guest to wrap up the series and describe some of the federal and state-level resources that are available to help address eating disorders, body image issues, and nutrition in the classroom, program, or home is Noelle Veilleux Markham. Noelle is a registered dietitian and the Population Health Dietitian at the Arizona Department of Health Services. More information about Noelle and links to resources she recommends are below.
Biography of Noelle Veilleux Markham
Noelle Veilleux Markham, RDN serves as the Population Health Dietitian at the Arizona Department of Health Services. Noelle has 11 years of experience as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) and has spent the entirety of her career in public health nutrition with a focus on nutrition messaging and policy, systems, and environmental change strategies.
Biography of Veenod Chulani
Dr. Chulani is Section Chief of Adolescent Medicine at Phoenix Children’s Hospital and Clinical Professor of Pediatrics in the University of Arizona -Phoenix Department of Child Health. He is also a founding member and clinical consultant to the Arizona Alliance for Adolescent Health. He completed his pediatric residency training at Maimonides Medical Center, Brooklyn, New York; his fellowship in Adolescent Medicine at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles; and, his Master’s in Education from the University of Southern California-Keck School of Medicine. His clinical and research interests include adolescent sexual and reproductive health, the care of gay, lesbian, bisexual transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) youth, health equity promotion and diversity and inclusion. He has lectured nationally and internationally on a host of topics related to Adolescent Medicine. He has delivered lectures and workshops nationally and internationally and is the recipient of numerous awards recognizing his contribution to adolescent health.
